What I liked

MJM provides a very positive work environment and strongly promotes being happy where you work. Teamwork is essential within the construction industry and MJM helps to build strong working relations within the department as well as throughout the company. No challenge was ever to big for MJM which allowed me to gain as much experience within the construction industry as possible. No question was too big or too small and help was offered every step of the way throughout my journey in MJM.

What I wish was different

So far my experience in MJM has been amazing and I wouldn't want to do my placement anywhere else. The only thing i would change would be having the café further away as that's where I spend all my wage !!!

Advice

The most important thing about working anywhere is enjoying your work and enjoying who you work with. Take placement as a learning experience to figure out if this is the right path for you !

Apprentice Quantity Surveyor

What I liked

MJM is a great company for progression in Quantity Surveying, as well as for other career routes. The wide range of departments and experienced employees provide invaluable knowledge, which I feel has greatly enhanced my understanding of Quantity Surveying and what is expected of me within this role. MJM provides endless opportunities to learn & develop and I would recommend it to anyone completing the HLA/PT route as they are also conscious of the level of work that is required to complete this course.

What I wish was different

Advice

Due to how fast projects are completed, I would try to take in as much information as possible and ask plenty of questions because you can gain a lot of experience in a very short period of time.

Graduate Quantity Surveyor

What I liked

There are numerous aspects of working in MJM that I enjoy. I enjoy that there is a variety of work and tasks that need completed that helps me gain a wide range of experience. Whilst carrying out these task I am working with and collaborating with various different members of the MJM team, which helps me develop my communication and people skills which are very important in this industry. I like that I work for a forward-thinking, supportive company that realizes employees are their greatest asset.

Advice

I would advise anyone that is starting out in a new job to ask plenty of questions, to show interest in your job and gain as much knowledge and experience as possible.

What I liked

MJM Marine is a fantastic company that offers great experience for anyone seeking a placement or graduate job in the construction world. Everyone in the company is very approachable and I am never afraid to ask for help. MJM is a global leader in the Marine industry, a sector that is unique and fascinating to learn about .MJM is a company I highly recommend to any student.
