What I liked
Following my 9-week internship with Deutsche Bank, I believe that I have furthered my professional development, learned and developed multiple skills, and feel in much better stead to enter the workplace after graduating from university next year.
The opportunity started with a week-long online training and networking course. It enabled me to learn more about the organisation and its values, as well as the financial industry as a whole. It also provided a platform to connect with all the other interns before starting at the desk the following week. As part of our training, we learned more about the divisions that we were going into, as well as professional skills such as presenting, developing a personal brand, and networking.
From my first day in the office, I was made to feel very welcome and valued. This was aided by the selection of a mentor and buddy during my time with the company. I was positively surprised by the level of work that I was entrusted to complete. The workload was just right, keeping me sufficiently busy and on my toes, without being too overwhelming. My manager was very supportive and, through our regular 1-on-1 meetings, enabled me to consistently improve and reflect upon my work.
I'm extremely grateful for the experience and all of the support and guidance that I was given while at Deutsche Bank. I was certainly impressed with the organisation and its values and would recommend the opportunity to others.
