WSP has a rich knowledge of industrial and energy processes, a unique combination of specialists skills and multidisciplinary expertise required to plan, design, build and operate a new plant, or to automate equipment in an existing industrial facility. We also help our clients across sectors to meet the rising demand for power and reliable energy and Water services.
The climate crisis brings more extreme weather, with frequent heavy rainfall increasing flood risk. Financial constraints and aging assets add to the pressure. To be resilient in the face of these threats, communities need effective flood management and a future-proofed water supply. That's where we come in.

A central part of the energy transition is a need to be efficient in raw materials and resources, including embodied carbon from existing infrastructure.
-       Energy Transition or Energy Advisory – Electrical, Civil, Process or Chemical Engineering
The Energy Transition team delivers multi-disciplinary services to clients that together as a project portfolio deliver a net zero future. We support the full range of power generating assets from conventional generation which is vital to provide base and peaking capability to renewable generating assets such as wind and solar.
-       Regulated Networks – Electrical Engineering
The Regulated Networks Service Line supports the UK Electricity Infrastructure Network Providers and Operators. Please check our Graduate web page to learn more about the disciplines in energy
-       Non-Regulated Networks – Electrical & Mechanical Engineering
Our Non-Regulated team provide project management, engineering and technical advice and support to developers, Contractors and non-regulated clients for both HVAC and HVDC power systems.
-       Renewables – MSc Renewable Energy Systems
We work with all key renewable energy technologies and specialise in: Onshore Wind, Offshore wind, Solar Photovoltaics (PV), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) & Hybrid Systems.
-       Quality Services – Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering
Our project portfolio is extensive and includes the refurbishment of civil nuclear, hydro, and thermal power plants, road and rail schemes and over the last 15 years oversight in the construction of offshore wind, battery storage, solar farms

WSP’s experts possess a rich understanding of industrial processes and a unique combination of specialist skills. We combine these with the multidisciplinary expertise required to plan, design, build and operate a new plant, or to optimize production of an existing industrial facility.
Within this area we look to hire graduates with: -
Control & Instrumentation - MEng Control & Instrumentation
Oil & Gas - MEng Mechanical Engineering & Gas or Hydrogen specialism & those with Electrical degrees for our Electrical Service line.

What you’ll need
  • You’ll be graduating in 2023 or you may have already graduated with at least a 2:2 in a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject for WE&I roles
  • You'll be looking to start work in September 2023 or April 2024
  • You’ll be passionate with the curiosity and creativity to solve problems
  • You’ll want to stretch and inspire us, speaking up about any new ideas you have
  • You’ll want to throw yourself in from day one and put your studies into practice
  • You’ll have excellent communication skills
  • You’ll enjoy working in a team environment, sharing ideas and collaborating with colleagues 
  • You’ll have confidence to work under pressure with the ability to prioritise and plan effectively
Please note behavioural assessment results at WSP are valid for a period of 12 months, if you have completed an assessment within this timeframe and been unsuccessful we will not be able to consider your application.

How long does the process take?
You'll receive an email acknowledging receipt of your application within 48 hours of submission. We work hard to match you to the most suitable roles in our business based on your preferences. The recruitment process can vary depending on the role and team you are matched to. Most applications complete initial behavioural screening assessments and are progressed to as assessment centre if we have a role and location match within 2 months but it’s good to know that the whole process can last up to 3 months in total if you're an early applicant. We will aim to keep you informed throughout the time that your application is being considered however, due to the volume of applications received, we are not able to respond to individual requests for status updates.
