CAD Design Internship - Tadweld (Tadcaster)
Tadweld is a UK specialist in precision steelwork, fabrication, and bespoke access solutions. With decades of experience, Tadweld serves a wide range of sectors, delivering high-quality, tailor-made steel structures that meet tight spatial and operational constraints. Based in Tadcaster, North Yorkshire, the company of around 50 employees design, manufacture and install across the UK, and have three company values of Teamwork, Quality and Innovation.
Internship Overview
We are offering an 11-week Internship to help us strengthen our Computer Aided Design (CAD) capabilities and support our journey toward smarter digital manufacturing practices. You will contribute to a focused project that drives value for our digital transformation by establishing the companies CAD design standards, driving consistency and enabling growth.
Duration: 12th January 2026 – 27th March 2026
Location: On-site & occasional hybrid – Station Industrial Estate, Station Road Tadcaster LS24 9SG.
Commitment: Full-time, 37.5 Hours per week
Rate of Pay - £13.00/hr
This internship will provide practical experience in applying digital tools and techniques within the manufacturing sector.

Project Responsibilities
As an intern, you will:
Review the company’s different CAD designs to create a parts library
- Facilitate engineering meetings to agree on a selection of standard designs and standard parts
- Use CAD software to design and generate engineering drawings to enable fabrication of metal structures, parts and assemblies.
- Create a company ‘Design Standards’ document which can be given to new starters and third-party designers.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and company best practices in all drawings, including ISO9001 and CE requirements
You may also gain experience of;
- How to collaborate and communicate with customers and suppliers to ensure all project deliverables are achieved
- Providing technical support to fabrication teams ensuring all requirements and specifications are understood.
- An understanding of operational activities such as RAMS, audits, paperwork traceability, delivery notes, time management, health & safety etc.

- Studying or recently graduated in [Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Computer Aided Design)
- Some experience in AutoDesk CAD software’s
- Proactive problem-solver with strong digital skills
