GBP 7741 School and College Engagement Assistant
Job Summary
The Schools and Colleges Engagement Team at the University have an exciting opportunity for a School and College Engagement Assistant to join them and support with the delivery of events and activities in schools and colleges based in the UK. Based in Exeter, you will spend a significant proportion of your role working out in schools and colleges, for example delivering workshops, recruitment and educational sessions. You will also be involved in developing workshops and presentations, online resources and/or marketing materials. You will contribute towards the successful delivery of online outreach through our Discover University programme of activities. You will support our Easter and summer residential programmes, assist with occasional events on campus in Exeter, and help run CPD sessions for teachers and HE advisors. You will represent the University at national exhibitions organised by partners including UCAS, UK Uni Search amongst others.
This role is part of the Graduate Business Partnership (GBP) scheme and offers a full-time contract (36.5 hours per week) until July 2026. You will need to be based in Exeter visiting schools and colleges across the UK. This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home. You will need to have a UK driving licence for this role and hire cars will be provided.

Purpose of the Role
Supporting the School and College Engagement Team, you will be working towards our student recruitment and widening access strategies reaching out to prospective students, teachers, advisers and families. With excellent communication skills, you will be confident in working with groups of pupils from various age groups, building relationships with teaching staff, and presenting to prospective students and their families.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with maintaining relationships with schools, colleges and partner agencies to support widening participation and recruitment.
- Liaise with teachers to ensure that correctly targeted students participate in activities.
- Support existing partnership work including engagement with the SEREN network and The Elephant Group network of schools.
- Work with other team members to plan and deliver a range of outreach and recruitment initiatives and support colleagues as required.
- Assist with the planning and delivery of workshops, residential programmes, outreach digitally and in schools and other activities.
- Supervise the work of Student Ambassadors to ensure projects are delivered effectively.
- Consistently recording and reporting on activities to assess impact and efficacy and contribute towards the annual School and College Engagement Report.
- Represent the University at key recruitment and outreach events including HE Fairs and careers events or at digital alternatives as appropriate.
- Participate in the Performance and Development Review cycle, agreeing targets and outcomes and taking part in any relevant training and development.
- Abide by the University’s policies and comply with Health and Safety legislation.
- Support the delivery of priority recruitment and outreach events, including pre-application Open Days, Offer-Holder Visit Days, campus tours, incoming visits and confirmation & clearing.
- To have a flexible approach and a willingness to undertake other tasks and projects as might reasonably be required, commensurate with the grade of the post and in some cases linked to your specialist skills.
You will be expected to work such additional hours as are reasonably necessary to fulfil the requirements of the post, including evening and weekend work, for which there are arrangements for time off in lieu. You will be required to travel across the UK and therefore a full UK driving license is required and you will have access to hire cars if needed.

About You (Person Specification)
Degree and Attainment
- Open to UK and International finalists and graduates who have graduated from a UK-based university in the last 3 years.
- International graduates must have a Graduate Visa for the duration of this contract.
- An enhance DBS check will be required (cost covered by the University).
- As travel is required for this role, you must hold a full UK driving licence. You will have access to hire cars.

Graduate Business Partnership (GBP) Scheme Requirements
- To undertake a graduate role through the GBP scheme, you must have either achieved your degree or be in your final year at any UK-based university.
- If you are in your final year, your working hours may be reduced to 15 hours per week (for undergraduates) or 6 hours per week (for postgraduates) to ensure you have the capacity to successfully complete your degree.
