GIS Analyst
Contract Type: Full Time (37 hours per week), Permanent
Salary: Grade 9 (£35,235 - £37,035)
Location: Humberside Fire and Rescue Service Headquarters, Hybrid Working (3 days office based, 2 days remote)

No two days are the same at Humberside Fire and Rescue. From troubleshooting Azure in the morning to upgrading a GIS system in the afternoon, adaptability, and the ability to prioritise tasks based on business needs are crucial.

The Digital Services Team comprises of Innovation, Solutions and Assurance departments, this role is in the Digital Innovation Team and highlighted green below.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate any of the below skills.
Current skills
- Assist with the maintenance of Corporate GIS systems, including Mapping Updates, System Upgrades, and day to day support. (HFRS primarily use ESRI)
- Creation of no and low code mapping application to publish information across the Service. Ability to enhance and support existing applications.
- Comfortable with handling geospatial data in a range of formats and able to perform low level analysis.
The role also includes the elements below and we are comfortable if you don’t possess all of them initially but require you to have the ability to learn them through supported personal development.
Ability to learn
- Experience of Azure cloud-based platforms and resources.
- Assist in the use of Risk Modelling software to be used in key operational efficiency decisions (HFRS use Cadcorp)
- Contribute to scoping, requirement, and specification documents as part of stakeholder engagement. Translate requirements into clear user stories to be worked.
- Assist with creation of new GIS ETL processes to populate SQL databases. (HFRS use Python and FME)
- Continuous improvement including the review of existing GIS systems and suggestions of new efficient processes.
- Overview of SQL database schemas and T-SQL language for the extraction of data. (HFRS use Microsoft SQL Server, a mixture of Azure managed instances and VMs)
