The Team

 

Our Consulting Highways teams impact the journeys of millions across the UK, by working in partnership with a range of clients on both major design projects and local network improvements. Transport Scotland have awarded Amey the North East Trunk Road Network Management Contract. And the South West Trunk Road Network Management Contract. You will assist the design of some of the largest civil engineering and associated infrastructure projects in Scotland. With a cumulative value in-excess of £1bn these long-term contracts provide excellent opportunities for technical, engineering and professional design staff at all stages in their careers to be involved in some of the most exciting and challenging engineering projects.

 

In addition to these long term contracts we also have a diverse portfolio of major roads, bridges and transportation and civil design projects with Transport Scotland, Local Authorities and established Contractors across the country including the UK’s first carbon neutral road improvement project in Cumbria as well as overhead gantry signage on the M25, improving safety on the A66 with the design and installation of a 42m bridge, M6 Junction 19 improvements whilst ensuring the UK’s Highways network continues to operate

 

The Placement Programme

 

Our 12 week placements are designed for students currently pursuing a degree and seeking practical work experience. During your placement:

 

  • •    Assist in creating technically robust engineering solutions.
    •    Gain practical experience supporting the preparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings, and documentation.
    •    Contribute to delivering high-quality, cost-effective, and timely project outcomes.
    •    Benefit from guidance and mentorship from industry-leading experts.

You’ll have a dedicated ‘buddy’ and mentor to guide you, helping you settle into your role and develop the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.

What we need from you

 

Minimum requirements:

  • Able to start the placement on 5th May 2025.
  • Commitment to complete the placement for the duration.
  • Currently studying towards a degree in a related subject.
