Graduate Urban Designer

If so, we’re looking to speak with Graduate Urban Designers for opportunities within our established Masterplanning, Landscape and Assessment (MLA) Team. 

 

Our Masterplanning, Landscape and Assessment Team is an integral service line that sits within our ever-growing Planning Department. Our core skills are Master Planning, Landscape Design and Assessment, and our key markets are the golden triangle of London, Cambridge and Oxford including the Oxford-Cambridge Arc.

 

MLA is a multi-disciplinary design team concerned with shaping the built environment. We are involved in a range of work across cities, towns, villages and rural areas, considering the interaction between landscapes, streets, buildings and public spaces to create functional, attractive and sustainable places. We work with some of the best clients on some of the most impactful projects across our regions.

 

What you’ll be doing:

 

We are seeking a motivated and passionate Graduate within Urban Design who possesses excellent graphic skills to support us in advising clients and representing their interests with integrity.

 

Your day-to-day duties and responsibilities could include supporting with the below:

 

  • Undertaking assessments to establish site constraints and assess development potential including site visits, baseline assessments and development policy studies
  • Preparing Design and Access Statements and Vision Studies
  • Preparing master plans at all levels of scale and detail
  • Providing Urban Design advice to clients
  • Supporting the MLA team in the running of the team and preparation of project work. 
  • Identifying opportunities to build relationships within the Firm, and the wider property industry
  • Promoting the services of the Masterplanning, Landscape and Assessment team alongside the Planning Department

 

About You:

 

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Landscape Architecture and/or Urban Design 
  • Specific interest in Masterplanning, Urban Design, and Landscape Assessment 
  • Proficiency in Auto Cad, Adobe systems and digital drawing/presentation packages such as InDesign
  • Good written and oral communication skills and ability to show initiative in furthering projects.
  • Ability to act independently but also as part of multi-disciplinary professional teams.
  • Initiate and prioritise work and meet deadlines without jeopardising quality.
  • Good interpersonal skills with a helpful and approachable manner.
  • Ability to accept, interpret and develop instructions in the best interests of clients and in accordance with RTPI, LI and Bidwells procedures.
  • Full driving licence with access to your own vehicle (if this isn’t feasible, please let us know on your application)
