Assistant Gallery Manager / Curator (Antiquities)

Barakat Gallery seeks a full-time Assistant Gallery Manager to support the London branch based in the prestigious area of Mayfair. 

The Barakat Gallery is looking for an outstanding, personable, bright, and interdisciplinary Assistant Gallery Manager / Curator (Antiquities) to join its team in Mayfair, London.

You will be joining the Company at a pivotal moment, after the Gallery has moved to a new and larger location, and you will be involved from day one in the management of one of the most important collections of antiquities in the world with Galleries in London, Los Angeles, Seoul, and Hong Kong. 

The ideal candidate will be able to perform curatorial, management, and client related tasks. 

Due to the nature of the business, personability and elegance are of the utmost importance.

Duties:
  • Cooperating in the management of the Gallery;
  • Carrying our research on selected holdings;
  • Writing condition reports;
  • Interacting with clients and answering enquiries, as directed;
  • Supporting the Ownership and the Management of the Gallery.

Candidate specifications:
  • Background in Archaeology , Ancient History, or Art History (with experience in Antiquities), with Postgraduate Studies;
  • Proven track record of experience with Galleries, Museums, or Collections;
  • A keen interest in Antiquities and Art, encompassing different civilisations and time periods;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Proven track record of working as part of a team.
