This role is based at the BEDFORD CAMPUS. To be eligible to apply you must be a graduate who received an Undergraduate Honours degree from the University of Bedfordshire between January – July 2024.
About the GAP Student Support Receptionist Placement
The Student Support Team provides support in a range of areas, including mental health, disability support, community and faith, mitigation, counselling, student money advice and student engagement, for all students at the University of Bedfordshire.
The Role
As the Student Support Receptionist at Bedford Campus, you will:
- Be the ‘front-face’ of Student Support and signpost students, academic, and professional staff to the appropriate support.
- Book appointments for Student Support advisors and counsellors, and manage drop-in sessions and manage the counselling email inbox.
- Access and support in the Student Engagement email inbox, triage emails for appointments, and book in the student engagement calendar. Process any completed interruption of studies and withdrawal forms to the appropriate course administrator.
- Access and support in mitigation email inbox and triage emails sent from personal email addresses against student record information, sent out mitigation forms to students who request these, signpost students to mitigation drop-in session.
- Answer telephone queries and give general advice.
- Receive students for appointments and drop-in sessions
- Provide administrative support, if required.
- Use relevant IT systems.
- Support the University’s commitment to continual customer service improvement through the use of enquiry management and data collection systems.
- Carry out the responsibilities and duties with regard to the University’s Equal Opportunities Policy and Health and Safety Policy and any other relevant University policies and procedures.
- Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably expected by the Operations Manager and the Senior Advisors.
We are looking for recent graduates who can work between 22.5 - 30 hours per week. The contract duration is 10 months.

About Student Support
The Student Support Team provides general advice and support to students on a wide range of issues that might be impacting on their attendance, ability to submit work and progression on their course.
The Student Support Team provides support in a range of areas, including: mental health, disability support, community and faith, mitigation, counselling, student money advice, student engagement.
Our focus is on retention and we liaise with other support teams, academic staff and external partners.

Eligibility
The GAP is open to any graduate who undertook an undergraduate (BA/BSc/BEng/LLB) course at the University of Bedfordshire on either a full or a part time basis, and were awarded their honours degree between January and July 2024.
You will not be eligible to apply if you are currently or will be undertaking any postgraduate study at the University of Bedfordshire or another university during the period of the placement.
