Foreign Language News Editor
KVH NEWS link is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable part-time News Editor. The ideal candidate must be proficient in reading and writing in Greek. This position involves selecting and editing news stories for our maritime newspapers, which are distributed to merchant ships via satellite.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- News Selection: Access and review a Greek news portal to pick relevant and engaging stories for inclusion in our maritime newspapers.
- Editing: Ensure that the selected news stories are well-written, accurate, and engaging for our readers.
- Content Management: Work approximately 2 hours per edition, ideally between 4pm and 8pm, on 2 or 3 days each week, ensuring timely delivery of content.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with the editorial team to maintain the quality and consistency of the newspaper content.
- Current Affairs: Stay updated on Greek and international news to provide the most relevant and interesting stories for our audience.
- Language Proficiency: Fluent in reading and writing Greek.
- Passion for News: Strong interest in current affairs, particularly in maritime and international news.
- Experience: Previous experience in editing or journalism is an advantage but not required.
- Technical Skills: Basic proficiency with computers and the ability to navigate and utilize news portals.
- Time Management: Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
