As our Comedy & Drama Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and informative lessons that ignite the creativity and imagination of our students. Your expertise will guide them through the basic aspects of performance, and the rehearsal process. You will create at least one performance and one showcase per year with the children and young people.

Your ability to share your industry insights and practical skills will be invaluable in preparing our students for the dynamic world of live theatre. Your enthusiasm and dedication will be instrumental in shaping the next generation of performance professionals but will also have a focus on the development of life skills through performance training.

PQA is a leading provider of weekend performing arts training and is currently looking for a Comedy and Drama Teacher to work with our students at PQA Selby on a Saturday 8:30am - 12.00.

 

You will be a confident teacher with experience in working with children from 6 - 18 years, creating material that can ultimately be performed live in our performances and showcases. You will ideally have experience working with children and young people and have a strong background in performance.

Our teachers have a common law Duty of Care towards pupils and must safeguard and promote the welfare and well-being of all pupils, whose needs must be the first and paramount consideration. (Children Act 1989, Education Act 2002, Education and Inspections Act 2006) Therefore, you will be required to undergo the necessary training.

PQA Selby has a rigorous selection process, and the identity of all successful candidates will be checked thoroughly. Successful candidates will be offered freelance contracts which are conditional upon the candidate having or obtaining (we can provide your check, then you must register with the update service) a current DBS and the taking up of 2 references.

Job Requirements

A degree or background in theatre

A director/teacher with experience in making live performances with children and young people.

 

All teachers will ideally have the below qualities:

Inspirational.

Outstanding communication skills.

Fun/sense of humour.

Genuine passion for their subject and for teaching.

Punctuality and professionalism.

 

Job Responsibilities

You will be leading Comedy & Drama workshops with children from 6 - 18 years creating material that can ultimately be performed live. You will ideally have some experience working with children and young people and have a strong background in theatre.

 

You will be required to plan and deliver engaging, fun lessons to 6-18-year-olds, working on projects throughout the terms.
