Business Applications & Technology Support Assistant

 

Alcohols Limited is a chemical distribution which was formed in 1955 as a subsidiary of The Palmer Group.  It is a private family company founded in 1805 which is still family owned today.  

This role will be primarily based on site at our new £23m facility in Rugby based at the Europark just off the A5 which has recently opened.  (A5 Watling Street, Clifton upon Dunsmore, Rugby Warwickshire. CV23 0AJ). The site will also house a new distillery allowing us to add capacity to our current heritage site in Birmingham which will be retained. Langley Distillery is a renowned and historic distillery known for crafting high-quality spirits and liquors and producing exceptional products that delight customers around the world. 

The role is offered as a 12 month’s temporary contract and could suit a placement student or a recent graduate who is technology savvy and wants to get hands on experience of embedding business applications and processes across all departments within the business. 

The Opportunity

The role reports into and supports the Business Applications Manager who is responsible for ensuring the effective application of business processes and software tools across all parts of the business to provide a smooth internal value stream.  In addition the incumbent will support with day to day IT support on site under the guidance of our third party remote user support specialist.

What you will contribute

  • Developing and updating user manuals for all business applications under the direction of the Business Applications Manager.
  • Training users across the business in processes and systems and acting as a trouble shooter when issues arise.
  • Undertaking testing of system updates prior to final user acceptance testing.
  • Creating and running ad hoc and regular system reports as requested
  • Supporting the Business Application Manager in the delivery of business projects
  • Under the guidance of the 3rd party remote IT user support specialist providing onsite IT support for software and hardware including Office 365 support
  • Allocate and monitor ongoing Cyber security training for all employees
  • Provide administrative support for the Technology and Engineering function including raising purchase requisitions and procuring IT equipment as needed.
  • Monitoring and managing IT assets across the business allocating equipment to new starters and collection from leavers
  • Follow the company initiatives for Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) (e.g. H&S Policy, Golden Rules) and exhibit SHE leadership through own behaviours.

What you will bring

  • An aptitude and interest in IT applications with good knowledge of Office 365 is essential. Proficient IT skills.  Able to collate data from multiple sources into useable documentation
  • Practical/proactive problem solver and flexible to support a dynamic, customer driven business – logical mindset
  • Strong interpersonal skills, credible, able to interact effectively with a wide range of people and build good working relationships
  • Well organised and able to assimilate new information quickly and take innovative approach to solve complex queries.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, providing both customers and internal stakeholders with clear concise information to provide positive and beneficial interaction
  • Comfortable with ambiguous tasks and topics, and be flexible to be able to work on multiple, varied tasks.
  • Quality conscious and well organised, able to respond quickly to requests for information or support.
  • Team player and customer orientated.
