Finance Officer (Voluntary)

Reporting to: The Board of Directors

 

Duration: 6 months (subject to review)

 

Based: Home-based

 

Hours: Estimated at 5 to 10 hours pw

 

Salary: Voluntary

Job Purpose

 

As Finance Officer (FO) you will work closely with the Managing Director. You will assist with the setting and management of budgets in line with the company’s financial policies and procedures and funder requirements.

 

Ideally, you will have a good understanding of how different aspects of a business work together and have an interest in following market trends. You will be eager to use your financial knowledge to help Recovery Code X generate and manage new income streams.

 

We are looking for someone with a good knowledge of data analysis and forecasting models, who can help us develop a realistic three-year strategy for growth and financial security in accordance with the vision, mission and objectives outlined in our Articles of Association.

 

You will be proficient in the use of accounting software and be able to forecast monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets, if needed.

 

You may occasionally be asked to prepare financial reports, accounts, commentaries and financial statements for the Board and funding bodies.

 

 

Duties

· Liaise with designated staff about financial matters.

· Advise on the financial implications of the organisation’s strategic and operational plans.

· Assist with budget setting for new services.

· Assist with financial revisions to the business plan.

· Produce monthly cashflow forecasts.

· Produce commentaries and financial statements for the Board.

· Attend virtual team meetings on Zoom.

 

Person Specification

 

Essential

Professional accounting qualification

Awareness of accounting procedures and controls

Hands-on experience with budgeting and risk management

Experienced using accounting software

Knowledge of data analysis and forecasting models

Organised and methodical approach

Knowledge of GDPR

 

Desirable

Good at communicating complex ideas

Experience of bid writing

Experience of working with victims and survivors

Experience of working in mental health sector

A willingness to be contacted on an ad hoc basis

Ability to ensure decisions are taken and followed up

Ability to listen to and take account of multiple priorities and perspectives
