Strategy and Development Intern
WHY DO WE OFFER THIS OPPORTUNITY?
We are looking to hire motivated and competent Strategy and Development interns to join our HQ and enrich our educational offering. You will use your expertise to drive impactful work as part of a professional, community-orientated and ambitious team in Beirut, Lebanon. You will also be given the chance to design and teach a project you are passionate about to our students.
With two ex-McKinsey consultants in our C-Suite and a board governed by partners from leading law firm Skadden, the charity maintains strong links to some of the most reputable companies in the world, offering exciting opportunities and pathways to its interns.
THE ROLE:
This role is based in Alsama’s HQ in Shatila Refugee Camp, Beirut. You will work alongside the senior management team to shape the development and strategic direction of a rapidly-growing NGO.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
These might include:
- Fundraising: Expanding our donor-base and creating grant proposals.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint to organise student data and produce progress reports, ensuring that Alsama’s impact is communicated professionally.
- Creating and updating policies: Ensuring Alsama’s policies are up to date and fulfil the requirements of third-party organisations.
- Communications: Designing strategies in collaboration with our Comms team to raise Alsama’s profile through social media, press and conferences.
- Finance: Using Microsoft Excel tools to ensure Alsama’s financial records are regularly updated.
- HR: Managing Alsama’s recruitment pipeline to ensure that its workforce aligns with its growth.
- Academic teaching: Providing support in Maths, English, IT, or Professional Skills for our students.
- Education Project: Planning and running a project for an incredibly ambitious and hard-working set of children. For project ideas, please refer to page 3 of the document.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A proven record of academic excellence.
- Experience with Management Information Systems & similar tools, in particular proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Sophisticated and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent collaboration in a team.
- Ability deliver outcomes for specific deadlines.
- Must be flexible, detail-oriented, and a fast learner.
- Readiness to go outside your comfort zone and a tolerance for working in a challenging environment.
- Proficiency in Arabic is welcomed but not essential.
